I was able to pick up and remove the hot (~400° F) ceramic heat deflectors from my Kamado grill. Don't expect to hold on to something that hot for long, after about 10 seconds it started to burn my hands and I had to quickly remove the gloves. Now that I am more aware of the time limitation I will move more quickly next time.UPDATE I just went to use these gloves for the second time and noticed that when I picked up the hot ceramic it burned the color out of the gloves and altered the knit pattern. see attached photoYet another update. I did use the gloves for the second time to lift a pizza stone that read 425° F on my infrared thermometer and moved faster so I wasn't holding on too long and they worked great. Updating review to 4UPDATE Mike from BlueFire Gloves was kind enough to point out the fact that parts in a grill often reach higher temp than the grill thermometer reads and that got me to rethink what happened when the gloves discolored. I did check the temp of the pizza stone with a infrared thermometer but neglected to check the ceramic heat deflectors. I have no idea what temp they were but their purpose is to protect the pizza stone from the direct heat of the fire and that time the stone was 457° F so the deflectors would have been significantly hotter than that. I have used these gloves several times now and am extremely pleased with them. Best I have ever used. Just stay within the parameters and you will have success. The problems I described above were not because the gloves failed but because I didn't follow my own advise and be careful to not exceed the the capabilities of the gloves. Upgrading my review to a 5 star. Thanks for the help Mike from BlueFire Gloves.

These work great as intended for indoor pan handling. They are a little snug but I am hoping with additional use they will loosen up for better dexterity as other reviews/answers to questions have mentioned happening. I have older gloves and they weren't near as good at blocking the heat, even when brand new. Yes I could grab hot pans, But I needed to put them down within 10 or so seconds or it started to get hot. These I can hold the pan much longer and not feel any heat coming through. For reference the highest I have used these is to remove pans from 425F oven.

I have purchased several of these types of gloves from different vendors. These are BY FAR the best I have purchased. They fit well (some other brands I have purchased were undersized), and are very comfortable. I have used them while grilling, but they are usually used while working with my woodstove. I can actually reach into "the beast" while the fire is raging and manipulate the wood, add more, rearrange things, etc. Obviously, you shouldn't be picking up burning logs, but I'll admit I have done that as well. I just try to be fast about it.

The real weakness to these (as to all gloves of this type) is steam. Because they are woven, steam/hot liquid will obviously go through them. But then, that's not what they were designed for.

I have been using these for about a year now, and i WILL buy another pair when these get used up (as they all eventually do).

After reading the reviews I decided to spend the extra bucks for Bluefire. I had a cheaper brand that started to fall apart on the first use. The Blue fire gloves seem to be much better than the cheap ones. The fingertips are Re-enforced so they shouldn’t unravel like the cheap ones did. I am grilling with them for the first time right now. I picked up the hot grill grate and couldn’t feel any heat at all. So far these gloves are 5 star and I think they will last a long time.

I was able to pick up and remove the hot (~400° F) ceramic heat deflectors from my Kamado grill. Don't expect to hold on to something that hot for long, after about 10 seconds it started to burn my hands and I had to quickly remove the gloves. Now that I am more aware of the time limitation I will move more quickly next time.
UPDATE I just went to use these gloves for the second time and noticed that when I picked up the hot ceramic it burned the color out of the gloves and altered the knit pattern. see attached photo
Yet another update. I did use the gloves for the second time to lift a pizza stone that read 425° F on my infrared thermometer and moved faster so I wasn't holding on too long and they worked great. Updating review to 4
UPDATE Mike from BlueFire Gloves was kind enough to point out the fact that parts in a grill often reach higher temp than the grill thermometer reads and that got me to rethink what happened when the gloves discolored. I did check the temp of the pizza stone with a infrared thermometer but neglected to check the ceramic heat deflectors. I have no idea what temp they were but their purpose is to protect the pizza stone from the direct heat of the fire and that time the stone was 457° F so the deflectors would have been significantly hotter than that. I have used these gloves several times now and am extremely pleased with them. Best I have ever used. Just stay within the parameters and you will have success. The problems I described above were not because the gloves failed but because I didn't follow my own advise and be careful to not exceed the the capabilities of the gloves.
